I had lunch at Tacombi and it was good experience. I ordered the frozen Piña Colada and really enjoyed it. It was my first time have a cocktail with ten to one rum. Very delicious, refreshing, and smooth. Food wise, I ordered the sweet potato & black bean tacos. Lots of flavor and a just a touch of heat. I enjoyed the food, but wouldn't go out of my way to come back. The atmosphere was different from what I've seen before. It was an industrial yet tropical Mexican vibe.
The place is tucked in behind a construction area, but the place was amazing. Service was incredibly attentive and friendly. The food was amazing and full of flavor. Definitely worth a visit.
Ok. TLDR. Visit and eat here ASAP. Then think about it.. How does one actually make, a tortilla chip, precious, in a Mexican restaurant? I had exactly (3) ... as garnish on a side of rice and black beans. and it was absolutely perfect. I savored every small bitten corner of that damned chip. Unexpected. Wife and I ordered the Birria, Crispy Fish and Shrimp Taco as well as the appetizer Tostada and Carne Asada quesadilla. Ultra cute little diner vibe with really awesome food to match. That baja crispy fish taco hits different as does the al pastor chicken and you can never go wrong with the birria. Having a bar is a great touch and who doesn’t love the idea of a sneaky to-go cocktail? Love Tacombi and implore you to check it out if you’re in Bethesda.
