We came for a short visit. Saw it on a map. So glad we did! What a unique park.

The home place looks more realistic, more time period correct, if you will. Though the padlock on the cabin detracted from the setting, I fully understand the necessity.

We stopped at the birth site on 27Sep18. It was about 1 1/2 hrs round trip out of our way heading home from vacation, but it was well worth the stop. The park ranger on duty, Fred, was in full period dress. He told us about the park, Crockett’s birthplace, and some stories about him. Whether an actual destination point or out of your way, make the trip and step back into history. I just wish I would have taken his pic along with the cabin and other areas.

We visited 9/2/18 on our way to Andrew Johnson National Historic Place and Cemetery. It was amazing. A wonderful looking campground. A river running alongside the campground and homestead, with ample opportunities for fishing and kayaking . The settlement is a working farm, with pigs, chickens, horses, pumpkin patch, herb garden, and several buildings. I was pleasantly surprised by all this state park offers. There is also many activities and a pool. We will return with our camper real soon.

Enjoyed it very much. Loved seeing the pigs, chickens, old houses and old structures made of trees.
