Sit outside!!! – A summer night at Sweeny's can't be beat. The service is good and the atmosphere is better. Has a bit of a "Cheer's" vibe going on inside. If it's nice out make sure you sit out back--the patio is one of the most unique in the area.
Disgruntled 20 year old? – Apparently some young-un got bounced and wants to make a run on bad reviews for Sweeney's. tsk tsk... I've lived in the Sweeney's neighborhood for well over 2 years now and have eaten there several times. You will not find a better Juicy Lucy burger in all of the Twin Cities. I guarantee it! Waste of Time!! – If this was the only place to go, I would gladly pass and stay home....what a dump!
Sweeny's is no fun! – I did not enjoy myself at all. I felt the service was rude and unfriendly.
Won't accept large groups! – I have never been to a bar that refuses to let in a large group (10-15 people). By the looks of this dump, they could use the money. I can't imagine running a business and turning down hundreds of dollars for a large party.
very warm – Nice wood interior with two fireplaces and an excellent beer selection. Parking is difficult and the televisions are small. Worse, they will not put on news or close captioning because "the owner would rather people talk than stare at a television!" The food was tasty. Music was a bit loud for conversation.
Pricey and not impressed – We went to Sweenys with a group of 7 on a Friday night around 7:00, the seating arrangement was poor, and the service was poor. We paid 105$ for some appetizers and 4-5 pitchers of beer. I was not impressed.
