Dr. Cook was my pediatrician. She actively encouraged my eating disorder when I was in the worst stages of it. She dismissed my debilitating chronic pain as psychosomatic (later diagnosed as Osgood-Schlatter). She was uncaring, negligent, and entirely unsuited to caring for children. Every medical problem I'm dealing with as an adult could have been diagnosed and begun treatment in childhood but she failed to do so despite constant advocacy. She is everything that is wrong with healthcare.
Dr. Cook was my doctor up until I was 18 years old, and she was fantastic! Very kind, and extremely knowledgable. She would listen and be compassionate during every visit. I had no issues making appointments, and the staff was always very welcoming.
Recently my wife and four-year-old son had an awful experience going to see Dr. Cook. Our son does not enjoy going to the doctor and this can be an emotional experience for him. Dr. Cook and her staff were not empathetic when our son became emotional. In fact our son's tears seemed to really frustrate Dr. Cook. My wife was left wondering whether or not Dr. Cook truly enjoys working with children. Needless to say we will be finding a more caring and compassionate doctor to go to in the future.
