How this place can get five stars from anybody is a complete mystery to me. Off the top, it is a dingy, cruddy place, not clean or well kept at all. First impression: fail. Next, my husband, because our business is very near and the location is therefor convenient, had a habit of using them for oil changes, and also various repairs. I was referred to bud's automotive as a very friendly, honest and reliable auto repair shop. I had my car towed to Bud's as it was not running due to a motor problem, whereby a previous mechanic told me it had bad valves and no compression. I explained the car's history to Bud by phone and he said "don't worry and project the worst because you don't yet know that the motor has a bad problem... it probably just needs some transmission fluid mixed in with the oil to free things up", and assured me that he'd try this to start w... read more
I went in to the store located off Howell Mill Rd in Atlanta and had the worst experience of my life. When I pulled up I was greeted by a woman and I explained that I needed an oil change and I only wanted to use Havoline brand 10W-30 oil. She informed me they only had high mileage 10W-30 havoline oil which would cost me $49. I agreed to the price and went inside the store. I took my car in because the check engine light was on however the driving wasn't affected. After returning to the shop to pick up my vehicle, I noticed a loud sound coming from underneath and when I put the vehicle in park, it still tried to roll backwards until I placed the emergency brake on. Service complaint – I would like to complain regarding service I had at the Havoline X-Press Lube location at 1953, Howell Mill Rd, Atlanta, GA. I went there last month for a cold engine start issue. Technician diagnosed that issue was due to brakes malfunctioning and needing replacement. After changing the brakes which cost me $300, the cold engine start issue was still not fixed. What a shame... – Barry and I talked a few days before i came in for service...i needed an engine flush and to have my CEL reset afterwards. Barry was as nice as can be on the phone and when i came in, he greeted me (along with his staff), very nicely. And then that stopped. They finished up the service ($150 for an upgraded oil change which i didnt really mind and an engine flush). I HAD TO SUE THEM!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! AVOID!!! – I used Texaco Express Lube's $19.00 Oil Change Special a total of two times. The deal is great; but the second time I went to this place turned into a complete nightmare. The Oil change was fine. But apparently when they checked my fluids they "misplaced" my radiator cap. WORST PLACE TO TAKE YOUR CAR – I had a friend that took a car her a couple years back and had some major problems. She was charged to fix a part which they didn't even fix and ultimately were very rude to her and refused to give her money back. That's why I stayed away from this Xpress Lube. Worst oil change in town – Try and sell you things you don't need every time. They try and get you to replace things even if they are brand new. There's an interesting article about them on CBS Atlanta's website from in November of this year. They went undercover and found a lot of shady things about this company and location.
