READ THIS!!! - SUNRISE UROLOGY TURNED ME INTO COLLECTIONS OVER A $10 MISTAKE. IT WAS THEIR MISTAKE AND THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT!
I had horrendous experience with Dr. Lin's Urology Practice, Sunrise Urology. I had two appointments there two weeks apart. Each time I gave them my medical card and each time they charged me $20 copayment. I didn't notice it at the time but in the small print on my card it said specialist copay was $25 not the $20 they charged me. I will never know why they only charged me $20 when my card said $25 but that was what they charged me both visits. I first became aware that I owed them $10 when a collections company called me and said they turned me in to collections over $10. I called Sunrise Urology and they said that they had made 5 attempts to reach me by letter. Makes no sense to send 5 envelopes and 5 stamps and write 5 letters to collect $10 when all they had to do is call me so I do not believe that they did this. They said they called my house once and left a message with one of my children. One attempt to call me and that was it, they then turned my $10 of debt over to collections agency. Crazy how collections agency was able to reach me right away but Sunrise Urology couldn't be bothered. When Sunrise Urology turned this $10 over to collections they added a $100 fee to it. Said I initialed something when I first signed up there that said I agreed to that. They had asked for my work phone number and email address when I started there and they had sent me some things at my work email. But on this $10 I owed them they did not once try my work phone or email and they couldn't even wait until my next scheduled visit to ask me for the $10. I first thought this must just be some mistake I could clear up by calling the Sunrise Urology office. But I called and got no cooperation, in fact they were very rude, unprofessional and would not acknowledge they made a mistake. I asked office staff if Dr. Lin was aware of this mistake and they said yes he was aware and he supported them turning me into collections for $10. I had fully intended on being a patient there for the next 30 years or so but they threw that relationship away for the $10 + $100 fee, so you can see how little they care about their patients and how they conduct business. So my advice to you is to keep looking for another Urologist. If you don't take that advice, pay careful attention to the papers you sign when you first sign up there.
