Shelby has helped us tremendously. My husband has Parkinsonism and his voice was getting faint. Shelby was recommended by our physical therapist. She is a terrific speech therapist. She has patience and she is very encouraging. She has a terrific grasp of the challenges presented by Parkinson’s disease. Since completing the LSVT for voice, my husband’s voice and volume have increased steadily. Shelby is continuing cognitive therapy with him as well. We highly recommend her.

I was diagnosed with LPR (Laryngopharyngeal reflux) which caused hoarseness, coughing, laryngospasms, & difficulties sleeping. I did lots of research & was seeking a Speech Therapist who was certified in treating vocal cord dysfunction. I had my ENT Doctor send my referral to Sunrise Speech. Shelby has taught me how to manage the spasms to prevent coughing which aggravates my vocal cords. Shelby is just the most compassionate and friendly person, who is genuinely interested in her patients and their vocal issues. She is creative in her approach and has a very open mind and a listening ear. I have nodules on my vocal chords and she is teaching me to speak correctly! Could not recommend more.

After many months of not being able to swallow and eat regular foods,but living on 6 Ensure a day,I found Shelby Bjorlie through my internist.She is a compassionate and highly trained therapist, who gave me the tools and the courage to start eating regular foods again without the fear of choking. I owe her my new lease on life and I am ever so grateful for her encouragement when I was at such a low point . I highly recommend Shelby and encourage those folks who have speech or swallowing problems to seek her out.

I was referred by my physician to have swallow therapy. I actually chose Sunrise because they would do all Medicare and insurance filings. It was the right choice for me. Shelby was friendly and accommodating from our first phone conversation. During our sessions, she explained my swallowing issues in very understandable language. She made a game plan, if you will, to address all my physical needs, explaining in detail how each exercise would strengthen the targeted area.
