For the past 12 years; service is always a flip of the coin! What's bad to say is we keep going back, but traditions are traditions especially when loved ones are not with us anymore. The service is normally ALWAYS SLOW! If we were at any other restaurant we would gripe & complain about the wait for the food to arrive (or at least the cook) Always allow 2 hours for dinner if you're lucky but just be prepared to waste your entire night because they hurry for no one. They also don't care how long you wait or if the food was an... read more

Memroable I've only eaten at Sumo's once, but it made a pretty decent impact on me. I remember being surprised that you could find this kind of quality Japanese food in Rome, for one thing. That was a nice surprise. I think the location hides it a bit much as it is worth trying if you're in town.

Sumo Japanese Restaurant Sumo Japanese Restaurant used to be the closest Japanese restaurant to Calhoun, so we would eat here often. Now that there is more of a selection, we do not frequent it as much. However, the last time I ate here (for a birthday party) the food was great and the experience was enjoyable. It's a great place to go for a large group.

Outstanding to our family We absolutely love this place and would go more often if we could afford it; the kids' meals are just so much! We also prefer their fried rice with that smoky bacon flavor, although I was just sure I wouldn't be able to tolerate it! This is my husband's new traditional birthday dinner. I like that they seat you immediately, but it is typical to have to wait for a complete table before they begin cooking.

The Best Fried Rice Anywhere We love Japanese food, and enjoy trying various restaurants in our travels; however, I always come back to Rome (my hometown) for the best fried rice I've ever eaten. The secret ingredient? bacon! Leave it to a Japanese cook in the deep South to throw in a little fat-back; we've yet to meet another cook who does this. While the service here is unfortunately slow, the hilltop view and the good eats make this a stop you'll want to add to your list when visiting Northwest Georgia.

Love taking my kids here. Good food with great portions and they put on a good show. Friday nights are long waits but during the week we have not had a problem.

Very good food! I've eaten at many Japanese Restaurants in Atlanta, Alabama, Florida, and others in Rome, GA and this is my favorite place by far! Their fried rice is the best, the meats are great quality, and the vegetables are fresh. They make their own hot sauce and it is worth going just for it because it is so good! The prices are reasonable, especially if you consider how much you get. I had enough leftovers to eat for lunch for two days, so I got three meals out of my approx. $28. The building is older, but the place ... read more
