Enjoy a little piece of Pan-Fried history when you dine at Stroud's! The year was 1933. Prohibition had just been repealed, we were between two World Wars and Stroud's Restaurant was built. Stroud's started as a BBQ restaurant by Guy and Helen Stroud on the county line at 85th and Troost. The road house remained a BBQ restaurant until World War II. Chicken Fried Steak is the best. My friend had the Catfish, said it was excellent. Great Comfort Food.
Like the original location better. But this location is closer to me. Staff is friendly. Defanitely recommend.
Prettty poor on all counts. – I was visiting KC and wanted to go to one of my old all time favorite restaurants (Strouds). It had always been pricey for a chicken shack, but the chicken had in days of yore been good enough to justify it. This however was not a good experience. On top of service issues (slow and uncooperative), that are not worth discussing more than that, the food was as others have said (And to my surprise) pretty poor. Service is awesome, gravy is great, fries are wonderful, green beans just like mine and the chicken they are supposedly famous for that is very expensive had no flavor, no seasoning. So if you are hungry for veggies then this place is for u but chicken I say nay nay .
Great Value and Great Food – We found Strouds South by chance... after not being able to get into another restaurant. What a find. Very helpful and friendly staff, delicious food served family style. The chicken was the best I've had and the sides were very tasty!. You won't leave hungry and the prices are very reasonable. We will visit Strouds again next time we come to KC!!!
