History: Jean Pierre had been a baker in France and worked in someone else's bakery before realizing his dream of owning his own bakery. Jean Pierre opened the doors to the Strawberry Bakery back in 2004. He started out making and selling cakes, pastries and breads. Every single item made at the Strawberry Bakery has always been made from scratch. There are never any mixes used. Strawberry Bakery is awesome for special cakes I had a delightful experience ordering a special birthday cake for my brother's 60th birthday party. Jean Pierre was right on my wavelength and showed me exactly how he was going to make three different cakes to match up with my brother's life interests: a guitar, running shoes and a microphone. He put them on a large sheet cake base and delivered them to the Country Club for me. He did chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, then iced them with butter cream icing and covered it ... read more
Horrible bakery, don't be fooled. Horrible bakery, don't be fooled. The French chef who owns this bakery only cares about making money; he could care less about the quality of his products, his customer's satisfaction, or the cleanliness of his kitchen. I live down the road from this bakery and came here to get my morning coffee on a regular basis for a few months, before I realized it's all a front. While I was sitting drinking my coffee and reading the paper, I would overhear the chef talking with his staff in the kitchen ... read more
Never Again Absolutely horrible!! Ordered a cake for a house full of people and not one person could finish their piece! Called this bakery and was first told that they had no record of our purchase. Was then told by the chef/owner that we "did not appreciate fine French baking" and that we would not receive any compensation. Cake was dry and the icing tasted like caulk. Stear clear of this bakery unless you have lost your sense of taste!!!
Use Bakers of Buffington or Wegman's Very disappointed. Bought a strawberry shortcake birthday cake (recommended by employee), doughnuts and croissants and didn't like anything. Cake icing was okay at best, cake was tasteless. My kids didn't even like the doughnuts - enough said. Chocolate croissant had most of the chocolate bunched up in the end. Bottom line: For the best cakes around, you can't go wrong with Bakers of Buffington on 30 in Downingtown.

Yummy! The pastries from Strawberry Bakery are delicious and so fresh and beautifully prepared. However, I stopped by to pick up a birthday cake and was shocked to see that they all cost a small fortune. I would have spent over $40 on two small size (6" or so) cakes and that just seemed to be unreasonable. I passed on them. They were gorgeous though and looked delicious.
mummm! best french "pâtisserie" for me! I tried this morning. My husband came this morning to learn how to make a "king cake" and several pastry stuff. I had one of the best "croissant" I ever tried in my life (and I'm French!). So let's try it, the owner is really nice and very welcoming. Price are reasonnable
Nastiest, driest cakes on earth! I special ordered the pound cake (the only layer cake they offer) for my husband's birthday, so it was supposed to be "fresh" and "custom ordered" -- what an incredible disappointment! The cake was dry, crumbly and completely tasteless. The frosting was supposed to be chocolate buttercream but had no discernable flavor whatsoever. The only positive aspect to the whole experience was that it made for a memorable birthday for my husband, who has a wonderful sense of humor and was able to laugh ... read more
