Living at Strauss on 5th has been a great experience, thanks to the outstanding team here. Elaine, the property manager, is always helpful and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly. Martin, the maintenance technician, is quick to respond and does excellent work. Yaneli, the cleaning lady, keeps the building spotless and is always friendly. I’ve been living here for a few months now with my boyfriend after being downtown in various apartments over the years and wanting to get out of there, and the difference has truly been astounding. The neighborhood is such an upgrade from Downtown, Hillcrest is so much cleaner and laidback but you still have a ton of amazing bars and restaurants (and Balboa Park!) all within a very, very short walking distance — The location is prime. At last count (July 2024), speed bumps were installed in the parking garage below us. We can now hear and feel multiple loud double thumps every single time someone drives in and out of the parking garage as people drive over them. It's been nearly a year without any peace or quiet. We'll be looking for another place. Update: Property manager Elaine Cordova went above and beyond to get new flooring mats installed in the gym, which has helped immensely with eliminating about 80% of the noise.
