We were pleased with our stay at the Stonewall Motorlodge. The room was cozy and relaxing. The walls between the rooms, especially the bathroom, are thin and the bathroom did not have hand soap so we used the body wash. I would have like having regular (not decaf) coffee in the room, but we found some in the lobby. We also liked the no frills check in. We would book again and recommend.
When we first pulled in we thought, "What did we just get into?" We usually stay in hotels. To our surprise the room was very nice. We loved the retro decor and learning of the history of the place made it a very nice stay. I would say they need to do better with the shower situation. Most people are not over 6 ft tall and not being able to adjust the shower was frustrating for a 5' person. Plus the pressure was not great due to the height. The back area was amazing. My wife and I love the Stonewall Motor Lodge! Convenient, Clean, Comfortable!!! Plus a great price. We’ve stayed in “The Press Room” several times. We enjoy the LBJ nostalgia and look forward to seeing all the fun old photos. This is our little secret on our trips to the Texas Wine Country and our wine club pick-ups. We stayed here in end of June 2025 and the cabin wasn’t the cleanest, so our expectations for this stay weren’t high. We were pleasantly surprised this go around. When we walked in it smelled of being freshly cleaned and sanitized. The location is perfect for us, as we do some activities in Fredericksburg and some in Hye and Johnson city. I’ve stayed at quite a few places in the road over the last couple years, but this place allowed me to get the best sleep. I’ve had in weeks. It’s an older place but all the work done on the inside really makes it cozy and comfortable. I wanted ifor nothing As all the amenities were there, they even had my favorite coffee, and the owner was a very, very, very nice person. Anytime I come through this area I will ensure that I stay there.
