My fabricator recommended that I use them while trying to source soapstone for countertops. They sold me a stone (as soapstone) that is actually slate. They are still selling that stone as soapstone. (Marine Black). It’s a beautiful stone but it doesn’t have the talc content that gives soapstone its wonderful qualities. We treated our counters as soapstone (as that’s what I believed they were) and now they are stained and scratched beyond repair.
