Awful service. When I moved into my apartment the property manager acted as though it was also his first time seeing the apartment. He wasn't able to answer questions like "where is the trash" and "is there a washer/dryer on-site" with confidence. Not that there's been any, but communication has not been a strength of Stone and Browning's. Don't expect anything informative, relavent, or timely.

Slum lords. Buildings are disgusting. They take weeks to respond to anything and do not communicate with each other, causing any problem taking extra weeks to fix. You need to fight if you want anything done (like getting a mailbox key or a refrigerator that you were promised upon move-in as just two examples).

I moved into this apartment owned by Stoning Browning on November 14, 2025, and honestly the place from day one was already raising major red flags. This building is not safe for kids or pets at all, it was built in 1901 and it definitely shouldn’t be advertised like it is. There was visible mold all over, and the paint is old and falling apart which is really concerning, especially knowing there could be lead paint in a building where families live. I went for a showing for one of their available units. It is in rough shape, but there is not much available so I figured I would go for it. I went online to apply and found that it costs $27. Vermont has laws that protect housing applicants, including a prohibition against landlords collecting a fee for background checks. This is so that prospective tenants are not paying hundreds of dollars to various landlords during the application process.
