Still Perkin' opened in 1994 as a franchise of a New Orleans coffee company. Kathy Redmann, a co-owner and the manager of the shop, and Mike Fontham teamed to conceive and open the business. After several years, a territorial dispute arose with the franchisor, so Kathy and Mike opened as an independent -- "Still Perkin'."
