Turning a school into “luxury lofts” is insane…Gentrification at it’s finest…
I'm an absolute Uptown fan - so you when it comes to location you just CANNOT beat this building! Great walkability, tons of public transit options, AND onsite parking options (inside and outside) in a one of the greatest neighborhoods in Chicago - - we love it! Beyond that though, I can't tell you enough about how great Memo is (our maintenance guy...but I swear he wears a Superman cape most days). I am going to write a more thorough review when I have time, but if you are looking at unit 302, I’d like to advise you on one of the many reasons that I’m moving out. It’s smelt like sewer gas for over a month and management has done little to fix it. Maintenance doesn’t even have their own gas detector, and I had to go out and buy one. Initially maintenance told me they were waiting to fix it as they were doing work on the sprinkler room. Wow....I use to work at the school. It was my first teaching position for CPS. That was years ago. The building looks amazing.
While the lofts at Stewart School Lofts are spacious and aesthetically pleasing, our experience over the past 2.5 years has been significantly marred by poor management under Daniele Management. The turnover of property managers has been astonishingly high, with at least five or six different managers within a year and a half. Despite this frequent change, I never met any of them in person; all communication was strictly via email or text, leaving us with no idea who was actually managing the property.
