Dr. Shapero went over my file on the computer at our first patient visit. He seemed pretty thorough. Problem was that he filed the visit in a way that Medicare will not pay. The billing by Scripps was for $439. He said it was a specialized visit for a person over 65. I do not think Dr. Shapero is/was familiar with Medicare. Normally doctors do not charge for things that Medicare will not pay for, particularly on a first visit. I came to see dr Shapero January 10, 2025. I usually don't write reviews, but this visit , I can't forget. I think if do not report on this people are going to die .Refills of medications are not important for him. there is another review abot refils.. I came to see him after over a year, this was my 2nd visit. I filled out the questionnaire, hopping to have an annual report and blood test. .Its.all went wrong..The nurse told me please, wait about half an hour he is sleeping. Dr. Shapero has been the most kind, personable, empathetic, and flexible primary care provider I could ever hope for. I always feel like an active participant in making decisions about my medications and care options. He makes the effort to know his patients and always remembers things I’ve told him even when months have passed between visits. I’ve never had an issue getting my medication on time or refilled, even when I submit my refill requests at the last minute. I highly recommend Dr. Shapero.
