Highly recommend Dr. Zmugg! I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is an excellent surgeon and has excellent bedside manner. I saw a few doctors before finally being referred to him and he gave me hope! I had a PAO surgery and scope done on one hip. He explained all of the risks and benefits in a thoughtful way and although I knew the surgery and recovery would be challenging, I felt really confident in my decision to get the surgeries with him as my surgeon. I am so happy I did! I am almost 1 1/2 years post sur... read more

After 10 years of increasing hip pain that wasn’t really helped by physical therapy, I was diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and referred to Dr. Zmugg to discuss surgery as an option. I was hesitant to consider surgery, since I’m very active and didn’t want to be sidelined. Dr. Zmugg explained what would be involved in the surgery and recovery and gave me a very honest picture of what I could expect if I took that path. He didn’t sugar-coat it, and at the same time I came away feeling that I would probably re... read more

Outstanding doctor! I had given up hope for more than a decade on having my hip repaired and was walking on a cane for more than a year. Since 2008 all the doctors and kinesiology professors I spoke with told me that my condition was inoperable until I get a hip replacement. I was only in my 30s at the time so this was not a great option. Worth noting that Dr. Zmugg is personable, has a fun sense of humor (which is important for patients who are afraid they will never walk again properly), he is eager to discuss in detail th... read more

After years of hip pain, physical therapy and activity modification I was given the diagnosis of hip dysplasia. When given a diagnosis like this, it feels like your whole world stops. Especially when PAO surgery is your only option at getting back to what you love. I was terrified to say the least. I am a fitness enthusiast and a mother of two under 3 years of age. I am very active and couldn’t imagine having to slow down or having the time for such a big surgery. After doing much research, I decided to get a second opinion ... read more

Do not be scared before undergoing surgery with Zmugg, he did a great job on my hip. Zmugg will answer your anatomical questions with precision which many psychical therapists haven't been able to. I am 18 years old, I underwent PAO surgery on July 12th 2024 and I'll walk you through the steps of my recovery so far! (It has been 4 months) 1. No walking for the first couple of weeks, and complete numbness in my hip and upper thigh, to best describe it would be the "feeling" of TV static. 2. Moved into college on August 13th, ... read more
