Dr. Zmugg gave me my life back! Two years ago I was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hyper mobility type) which means my connective tissue is not strong. So when I was told i would need to get a arthroscopy of my right hip and a labral repair I needed to find a surgeon who was informed about my condition as any type of surgery poses a high risk for my body. As a 17 year old, I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Stephan Zmugg. From my very first appointment, he was incredibly kind, patient, and thorough. I underwent a PAO and femoral osteotomy—no small thing—but Dr. Zmugg made the entire process feel far less overwhelming. He explained everything in a clear, reassuring way, never rushed through our conversations, and always made sure I fully understood what was ahead. Dr. Zmugg is a knowledgeable, compassionate, and engaging doctor! I went into his office only knowing I had a labral tear, but he thoroughly explained a couple of different compounding anatomical issues, and spoke with me about my options and the procedure. He even helped me find the kind of crutches I would need during the office visit. I feel very safe in his hands.
Highly recommend Dr. Zmugg! I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is an excellent surgeon and has excellent bedside manner. I saw a few doctors before finally being referred to him and he gave me hope! I had a PAO surgery and scope done on one hip. After 10 years of increasing hip pain that wasn’t really helped by physical therapy, I was diagnosed with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and referred to Dr. Zmugg to discuss surgery as an option.
