They partner with these schools that require their students to take a music class. Then they have you sign a contract that doesn't specify anywhere the total amount for the instrument. Furthermore, no where on their monthly bill does it say what the remaining balance is. You end up just paying and paying each month not knowing how much you have to pay or how many remaining payments you have, but they do suggest that you set up automatic payments through your bank account. RecommendedStearns is an excellent business! They are helpful and kind and I have rented from them for years. I even bought my violin from them a few years ago and love it. In fact, I have never met a better group of employees. There is nothing bad that could be said about Stearns!!!
No communication for end of the school year pickup of instruments. They expect you to pay over the summer, even if you are not returning to the program. Very quick to drop instruments off at the school, but not to pick them up. Choices are to pay over the summer, or drive 1.5 hours to return. Very poor service! I highly recommend renting from a company local to you - not who the district recommends.
I rented to own a violin for my son all through middle school and highschool and now he has graduated. I assumed I was done paying when the bill had been paid in full. I assumed wrong. Was just told over the phone that in the fine print of the contract that it is up to me to contact them for stop payment and that they would not reimburse any over payments that they deducted from my account. What a shady business! I would not recommend them to anyone!
They have thee best violins that not only sound beautiful but look beautiful too.
Stopped in today for the first time and ended up renting a violin. Really enjoyed my time there - the staff is personable and friendly and super knowledgeable. I look forward to visiting again!
