Took my grandsons (5 & 2)to The Trick Or Treat Family Event on Sunday. It was a very cool way of introducing kids to a haunted house when the monsters and ghosts are asleep and the lights on. They got to go trick or treating through the woods, cemetery and haunted house. The set up was great and I wish I had time to go back at night (without the kids). John, what a great thing you've created! Hope you have it again next year!!!

Four stars for now, and I fully anticipate this haunt jumping to five within the next couple of years. If Statesville is ZAP's equivalent to gore-y slasher movies with intense jump scares and gross out moments, HellsGate is their psychological, supernatural thriller. The creep factor is a little more intellectual, and I was really drawn to that. I seriously cannot wait to see what the game elements will be like once they're implemented. My sister and I waited 2 hrs to go in. I looked at the time before we went in and when we got out. It only took 13 mins to go through the house. No actors scared my sister or I because they send you in in large groups. The house had potential with lots of distractions and cool rooms but they needed to send people in smaller groups or more actors to pop out at you. I really don't understand why people are complaining so much about this place because I had an amazing time! From the bus ride to the walk in the woods, to the house and even the lines, I had a great time. The actors were very interactive and paid attention to the fact that my friend and I were together and kept separating us and singling us out. It was super funny.
