I was once a patient served by the DMHAS in Connecticut for a short time in 2007 and 2008. They are horrible. They protected my ex boyfriend who went to prison multiple times for repeatedly assaulting me. My once best friend John Snyder (RIP) OD'd because one of the CT DMHAS caseworkers was buying his $5,000 sculptures off of him for $50 knowing he used it to buy heroin. Nobody responds to emails and there aren't any "advocates". Beware of discrimination called mentalism or sanism. Those labelled "mentally ill" are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators, the vast majority of them are never violent; and anybody can be misdiagnosed so drugs are pushed.
