This hotel has bed bugs. I found one right as I was falling asleep. There were no rooms left so I had to rough it out that night. Did a thorough check of the room and didn’t see another so thought I was okay. The next morning there was another on the sheets. For what it’s worth hotel staff was very apologetic about the incident. They didn’t seemed shocked about it, which makes me think this may be a somewhat normal occurrence. State House Inn is located in downtown Springfield. The outside of the hotel does not do the inside justice. The inside of the hotel is decorated with images of Abe Lincoln and I found it very appealing overall. Upon check-in I was greeted with fast and friendly service. The rooms are spacious and tidy, they passed my clean inspection. The hotel offers a breakfast every morning with a wide variety of both hot and cold foods. This was my second stay. It was much different than the first. This hotel is great for downtown festivals and accessibility to some attractions but, otherwise you'll get more for your money elsewhere. Beds were extremely soft and the sheets were so worn out that they wouldn't stay on and were practically see through. We were so uncomfortable that we switched hotels during the middle of the trip.
