I stopped by State and Lake Chicago Tavern for lunch between meetings while visiting downtown Chicago, and it was exactly what I needed. The restaurant had a lively atmosphere without being too noisy, making it easy to relax for an hour. I ordered a burger and a side of fries, and both arrived quickly and tasted fresh and well-prepared. This was the more high end place I was looking forward to on my trip to Chicago, I had the steak burger with the fries. It really was just a burger and fries, but I blame that on my boring ordering choices. But it kinda felt as if the menu was very limiting on what they had to offer, and seemed almost a refined taste selection. The service was impressive and the atmosphere especially the restrooms were amazing, a huge go to for people who want something more on the refined style of Chicago.
Its a nice restaurant but DO NOT ORDER THE LOBSTER ROLL, they cover it in sauce so that you dont notice that they're using imitation crab meat and canned lobster FOR $26??? ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FULL CHUNKS OF MEAT so please order anything else on the menu
Stopped in on a Saturday morning for brunch. They had a day playing good music. The food was okay we had egg benedicts, hash brown and cheese and the cornbread. Service was immaculate!
Tasty food. Very convenient if you live in Thewit hotel.
