On the fence about "the Gate" After reading the previous reviews, I'm a little aprehensive about having my band play there- boyfriend's band's playing there- wish 'em luck! I'll get the "yay!", or "nay!" without the first hand heartache experience... & will expand upon my review. Hopefully, a positive experience to squash any misgivings brought on by previous reviews!
the gate The starting gate is a decent sizes bar. There is a huge dance floor and 3 different bars inside. The decor is kind of out dated. they have good breakfast on the weekends
Overpriced The drinks at the Starting Gate are quite overpriced. The interior is quite dated and is in need of some serious work. With a bit of work, you could bring the "Gate" back to it's former glory.
Starting Gate We were in the area visiting family and on our way home, and decided we were starving. We came here for breakfast and shocked at how good it was. Coffee was tasty, the service was great, like they were really happy to see us. And the breakfast tasted really fresh.
New Owners make a big difference The Starting Gate has new owners. They have lots of activities-comedy night, karaoke (2 nights), salsa, bike night, live bands, country music. Outstanding breakfasts on the weekend-$3.99 for a huge meal. They have upgraded the heating and air conditioning, and redone much of the interior. They still have a large dance floor and a room available for meetings and special events. The staff is friendly and so are the regulars.
Miss Stu... The gate used to be a hot spot when Stuart and Kenny were the owners it was always hopping, The food was good and they had great entertainment a good time was had by all. Now that there are new owners it doesn't have the same fun factor the food is OK.. Still liked it better when Stu was alive he was a great guy that always made you smile. I miss him so.He new how to have a good time always made you laugh. He and the Big bopper were a great team....
