I only saw him when I was on a Hospital Psych unit, but he was patient, kind, listened, gave me time to think and speak. He was able to figure out what was going on and express succinctly what I had been trying to say. That was SO helpful. I left the hospital with a bit of wisdom that I continue to use to this day, 4 years later.
I have seen several psychiatrists in Hampton Roads over the decades, and Dr. Starkey is, by far, the best. I've been one of his patients for almost 10 years, and I believe he's saved my life. Although you will probably have to wait about 30 minutes beyond your appointment time to see him, he will give you his full attention during your visit, and he communicates very well. Even though you'll have to wait your turn and the facility is in only fair condition, Starkey is well worth it!
