Restaining a wood house is tough Our house had wood siding and is stained not painted. Restaining a wood house is tough and expensive--they first have to powerwash it, and then put 2-3 coats of stain on. The final coat cannot be sprayed on-it had to be hand applied. Power washing is very messy and can create seepage problems--the power spray can get under the wood siding and cause water stains inside.
