My husband and I spent our honeymoon in San Diego. It was part of our California bucket list to learn how to surf in the warm Pacific Ocean. Grant and his team did just that. They gave us great lessons on shore and taught us how to stand up in the water within an hour. I am not athletic, and balance is my worst athletic skill, and I was able to stand up on some of the small waves. He then allowed us to use his board and continue practicing on our own. Grant had me standing up and riding the inside of the waves in the first fifteen minutes; I had no prior surfing experience. One key part of this was the practice he had me do on land before getting into the water. After a bit, we went to the outside to practice catching a wave as it came in. I came away from my lesson with a firm understanding of what I needed to work on and how to do improve on my own. Stafford Surf School was an excellent experience! I had no prior surfing experience but I was able to learn how to surf and ride waves in the first hour! If you are looking for a surf instructor, I highly recommend Grant and his brother Chad for surfing or stand up paddle-boarding lessons.
