My fiance was in the ER then later admitted. I live across the country, so I immediately hopped on a plane. I’ve worked as a patient advocate for many years, and so I knew I wanted to be there not just for emotional support, but to ensure he was being heard and his concerns were addressed appropriately. This facility was wonderful- from the cafeteria workers (hi, Tom and Cynthia) to the nurses and doctors (shoutout to Julie, Roman and Dr. Gibb). My mom was in there for a broken hip. She was put on the 6th floor . And the service she got was really lousy. She turn her car light on and have to wait 20 minutes before somebody came in. And then she is a fall risk and when she changed positions in her bed the alarm go off and nobody come for like 30 minutes to check on her. The nurses would say they're going to change her dressing and when come back for at least two 3 hours. She had CNAs that didn't understand English or that spoke English very well. Absolutely fell in love with the gentleness and care of Jennifer from imaging tonight. She was so sweet and caring. I was in my assigned room for about an hour. Nobody offered me a blanket, asked if I wanted the lights off or if I was comfortable, etc. When Jennifer walked with me to imaging she asked me if I was sure I didn’t need to want a wheelchair (I didnt need one so I let her know I was okay) and kept comforting me and watching me to make sure I was walking fine.
