The specialists, nurses and therapists are amazing. They kept us informed of all that was going on. The only reason it is not a five is because of the house doctors. Though both were nice, it was obvious they wanted my mom out even when advised by those that worked with her on a daily basis, that a few more days would be very benefical to her recovery. As a veteran I now receive VA care however, before VA care I had to go to this hospital two times. On two visits they misdiagnosed a STEMI which is a Myocardial Infarction and on another was clueless as to the difference between a heart attack and a panic attack. ER staff is simply ill-equipped to know how to handle patient emergencies. The physicians groups that St. Joe's contracts with offer inferior physicians. I walked up to the ER last Monday with my 12 year old daughter who is doing online school. My blood pressure was dangerously high 233/138. I was told that my daughter would not be able to come in the hospital by 2 idiot men. Not sure if they were security or what. I conveyed that my blood pressure was dangerously high and they said well your daughter can sit on the curb but she can’t go in.
