Not even a full or busy emergency room - only 2 people ahead of us the whole time yet it took so long. Registration staff take ‘phone breaks’ after every person they see to text or go on their phones and hold up the line after triaging. For an emergency dept, this type of delay is extremely frustrating
I brought my husband in excruciated pain twice to St. Joseph's and twice they treated him as a drug seeker, just sending him home without proper diagnosis or help. One doctor even recommended antidepressants... We were "lucky" that our family doctor didn't give up on my husband and she was fighting for him to get the MRI and CT. My husband was diagnosed with cancer (not thanks to St. Josep's) and lucky for him got great treatment at Princess Margaret. Unfortunately this help came too late and prognosis are not too good. My recent visit to the Emergency Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital left me with a deep sense of appreciation for the people who work there. Emergencies are never easy, but from the moment I arrived, I felt that things were being handled with efficiency, care, and professionalism.
