My grandmother was on home hospice in May of last year. We had everything we needed quickly. The night she started really declining, the pastor came out after hours to pray over her and to pray with us. Our family really appreciated this. When my grandmother passed away the nurse was there within the hour also. This was my first time dealing with hospice and I would recommend this company to anyone.
I had never heard of hospice before and knew nothing about it before my grandparent became sick. Our family met with a staff member who provided us with all the education we needed and answered all of our questions in a way that we would understand. She was on time and took her time. We also met with another well recommended hospice staff member but she was late and came off very pushy so we ultimately chose St.Joseph hospice. The care has been amazing so far. I can’t give enough praise to st Joseph and their staff. Every single person I encountered was very compassionate and patient when we had questions. The liaison who met with us to give us hospice information was very knowledgeable. She explained everything that could possibly happen during the dying process so that we wouldn’t be blind sided. They are truly amazing here and I would pick them again every time!
Facility is now under new management and staff. Both the field nurses and in patient nurses are amazing and compassionate. Rooms are being redecorated to give the patients more of an “at home” feel. Absolutely love that there is a Starbucks right across the street and I love that families have 24/7 access to patients who are in the in patient unit.
They discharged my Mom with No notice to us, her family. Their reason - they said there was too much friction between their staff and the staff at her assisted living facility. In reality, St. Jo Hospice staff made mistakes and when Assisted Living staff called them on the mistakes, an argument ensued. So they kicked my 88 yr old mom out of their care program because they couldn’t navigate workplace contentiousness. Very unprofessional and uncaring.
