The Nelson unit was part of St.James hospital...I attended a 6 week course there for my alcoholism.This year was my 35 or so year without an alcoholic drink....lm from Southampton but I will always love that part of Portsmouth.
In September 2016 I saw psychiatrist Dr Benson Abounu here. He asked me my opinion and I gave him my honest opinion and then on neutral things I said that I get minor intrusive thoughts and all this Psychiatrist Dr Benson Abounu did was punish me by increasing my mental health medication when this was not needed. Dr Benson Abounu is a judgmental unhelpful pillock.
Not a good place to work. The staff gave me a mental breakdown, I had no support from the staff, occupational health wouldn't help me and the staff counselling service wouldn't help me, they all shut the door on me. They forced me to leave I wanted to progress to nursing assosiate but I was held up all the time while others progresses. When I asked for help I was laughed at. This is how they treat their staff Just think how they treat the patients. With contempt.
