Lovely staff in the department. We spent numerous hours waiting unfortunately which I understand is very difficult for them to control. While waiting in emergency a NSW health worker (no name tag or ID, just an old yellow/brown NSW health polo) and kicked my mother in law off of her wheelchair because he needed to transport a patient. She was in the EMERGENCY department due to extreme pain and was pretty much unable to walk. My son had appendicitis, the staff were fantastic, nurses, doctors and surgeons were all great. Nothing but gratitude for all the staff.
GO TO RPA HOSPITAL INSTEAD If the ED room is full, SAVE THE TIME and go to a different hospital especially if you go on the weekend late at night. The most skeleton staff work the late nights, I have no idea how they are able to operate. The nurse calls you up the front so you can receive pain relief, they ask you questions and details about your situation right in front of everyone waiting in the room with only the smallest of a barricade for privacy. Have visited a few times over the past years and also twice for my wife. No complaints ,staff have always been professional . Nothing but commendation for the emergency department and Paeds wards. Parking is expensive but theres council parking on Derby st.
Arriving at emergency we found that the waiting room was full, We were there at 1.20am with my son and his girlfriend Sunday morning. X-ray was done fairly quickly but report was not available until after 6am. My son’s girlfriends mum took over after7am and did not go home till after 3pm Sunday afternoon. My son’s girlfriend had a fractured / broken tibia. Was put into a room to rest on a recliner, the room had not been cleaned and very short staffed.
