Urgent Care facility that submits insurance as "Emergency Room - Urgent Care" so visits get covered at much different levels as most walk-in urgent care facilities. What should have been less than a $100 visit turned into a $500 visit.
My mom went here recently when she was mildly sick. They coded her visit as an ER visit and charged her as such, claiming she owes then several hundred dollars out of pocket. Upon calling their office, they said we had to contact billing. And contacting billing they said they dont know why it was coded as an ER visit but that they couldn't do anything about it as the individual provider, meaning the doctor she saw, needed to fix it. I would only recommend coming here if you enjoy paying additional money out-of-pocket. This specific location codes visits differently so you are required to pay more for the same level of service that you would get at another SSM urgent care location. We usually go to the one in Lake St. Louis, where we only have to pay our $15 co-pay. However, at this location, we had to pay our $15 co-pay and an additional $80+ for the visit. Heads up to anyone looking to go here: my wife took our kids to this location as it’s supposed to be an urgent care and covered by my insurance, however we were charged for an emergency room visit. We have went back and forth with their billing department and have been told repeatedly there’s nothing they can do and that they charged everything correctly.
