For those considering living at Spruce, I would strongly urge you to reconsider. While the custodial staff work tirelessly to maintain the integrity of this building (one woman and one gentleman) the management consistently lets its residents down. For weeks, maybe over a month now, the residents here have endured thousands of fruit flies taking over our hallways and entering our apartments because of the managements' inability to have our trash chutes repaired. While Spruce has a great location in the junction in west Seattle there are many things that they need to fix/address. When something breaks in this building it takes weeks/months to get it fixed. The trash chute will be backed up for weeks with fruit flies and a stench coming from the waste room. They do not have enough help with maintenance or custodial help. Spruce is trying to charge me $5,000 for an event I didn’t host, wasn’t at, and didn’t buzz anyone in for. Their leasing agent Nolan was the one who approved it in writing, buzzed people in, and walked them through the building, showing them where it could happen. I was at work the entire time until the event got shut down. When I got home, I was confronted by Sashel, who started yelling at me. Spruce staff and maintenance are fantastic. The common area improvements are great as well as the amenities and proximity to everything.
