I received a surprise billing for $1502.00 for a Dr. I talked to for about five minutes at the Providence Sacred Heart ER and theatening collections if not immediately paid. I spoke with a rep who said my insurance asked for documentation but they hadn't provided it. After I said I'd take them to small claims court and they could attempt to justify $1502 for five minutes work, she said they'd bill insurance. This seems to be their business model.
