Small Store, Big Selection I used to go here constantly, when I lived in the area. It was a great store to be close to. I was primarily a roleplayer/cardplayer/wargamer, and much of the stock was focused on more 'traditional' hobbies, such as modelling and R/C vehicles. Despite that, their selection of RPG materials and trading cards was very good, and the staff was always very happy to help, and special orders weren't a problem. This was a very dangerous store to live a block away from! PROS: Wide array of hobby supplies. C... read more
the owner is a jerk the owner is a loud, obnoxious, ogre of a man. he was verry agressive towords me when he found out i was looking for warhammer miniatures. he told me that that gw sucks, and that nobody plays warhammer or tabletop games. he continues to bombard me with a multitude of reasons why my hobby isnt good and that i was not welcome in his shop. he quite literaly told me that i product i was looking for sucks. after all the negative things he had to say, he did infact have a pathetic selection tabletop miniatures ... read more
OWNER IS A DOUCHE!! bought a helicopter from sparetime shop. did not open the helicopter had in my possession for 3 hours. I wanted to return because I found a better heli at another location. the owner stated he would not take the return because of my reasoning of wanting to buy something better at another location. the owner said he would have to make sure there was nothing wrong with the item before he would return my money.....and he told me his "helicopter tech" would not be in for another 2 days. needless to say this g... read more
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! If I could give ZERO stars I would... BEWARE AT ALL COSTS! The selection is tiny...the costs are outrageous...AND...BE ADVISED...YOU CANNOT RETURN ANY ITEM FOR ANYTHING OTHER THAN STORE CREDIT! I paid cash for an item... got a receipt... did NOT open it (price tag is still on the box!)... came back the next day to return it and was told that I can only get store credit....even though I paid cash...even though it was only a day later... AVOID AT ALL COSTS... it is this type of customer service th... read more
Excellent for plastic models One of the best hobby shops for plastic models and model rockets that I've ever been to! I've visited shops all over the US and Canada, and this place is in the top 5 for sure. It has a fantastic selection of plastic models, though it doesn't have a lot of aftermarket (resin and brass) stuff. If you're a member of a local modelign club, you'll get a 20% discount, and everyone gets a 30% discount on their birthday!
BEST hobby shop in the USA!!!! This is the FINEST hobby shop I have been to in the USA - period!! He has the bet selection and carries kits I have only found by ordering directly from Japan. Better still, he has kits long discontinued and is able to get in kits that are no longer manufactured. Paul is an eccentric fellow, but if you can understand his quirks, the experience is well worth the trip. The shop is small ad cramped, but this is only because the selection and inventory are so great and numerous. Plus, if you want a... read more
You need it, they have it Don't be fooled by the modest exterior, this place to a scale modeler is the Taj Mahal. They had the 1/350 photoetch detail kit for the Tamiya "Yamato" when I could not track it down anywhere else. I have literally gotten lost in a shoe box - the store may be a bit cramped, but there is a selection in that little shop like nothing I have ever seen. The only modestly close contender is the now-defunct (tragically) "War and Pieces" in West Hartford, CT. If you take your ships and aircraft seriously li... read more
Great store, great prices, opinionated owner This actually a great store, particularly if you're interested in plastic models. The selection is huge, the prices are very reasonable, there are lots of sale items, and they get stuff as soon as it's released. The owner is opinionated, loud, brusque, and interesting to talk with. He can be very short on the phone, especially if you're asking for something he doesn't carry as he just wants to get off the phone. OTOH, he knows all the rumors in the industry and can generally track... read more
Best Hobby Shop in New England If your into plastic kits, cars, planes, armor, ships this is the store for you! It is a small store, but it's jammed with kits, supplies and customers. I drive 2+ hours every other month to go there. I've never seen more than 2 people working at a time, so calling to ask about a specific item may be frustrating. They are too busy with the customers in the store. I've worked in hobby shops before, not this one,and can say customers who live in fantasy worlds and deal with "gaming" tend to be self... read more
