My group and I started coming here over 25 years ago. It's not the place it once was but I am hopeful they will continue making improvements and bring back some of the old amenities. That being said, the campsites we stayed at were great! They have a good layout with decent shade and they were right on the water which was easily accessible. Didn’t give us a new tag for the zebra mussels, so be sure you take the initiative and go find someone even if they aren’t at the gate, or you’ll be out $60, as a business i’d recommend having a working phone number we are in the big 26 guys

The new management/owner is not as welcoming as the previous ones from a year ago. Postings at the gate state that they close the entrance at 8pm. However, during a recent camping trip, we found the gate closed at 6pm for entrance. We were going to make a quick run for needed ice, but after seeing the gate closed and locked for entrance, decided against it. ​I’d definitely go back to Spanish Flat for the location, but the check-in experience was lacking. The young lady at the gate provided zero help with the site layout, leaving me to figure out a very confusing back-in on my own. Shout out to the ranger I spoke with later who actually took the time to show me how to utilize the space properly. The gate staff could definitely use some better training on the site specifics.
