The new management/owner is not as welcoming as the previous ones from a year ago. Postings at the gate state that they close the entrance at 8pm. However, during a recent camping trip, we found the gate closed at 6pm for entrance. We were going to make a quick run for needed ice, but after seeing the gate closed and locked for entrance, decided against it. I’d definitely go back to Spanish Flat for the location, but the check-in experience was lacking. The young lady at the gate provided zero help with the site layout, leaving me to figure out a very confusing back-in on my own. Shout out to the ranger I spoke with later who actually took the time to show me how to utilize the space properly. The gate staff could definitely use some better training on the site specifics.
The campground has been shut down. We booked months in advance but didn't get any notice of closure or refund. We showed up to locked gates and no sign of life. Luckily we found another campsite a few miles north.
Unprofessional owner. Cancelled our site with a couple days notice, which we understood due to unexpected construction. But has not issued our refund a whole month and a half later. Not answering emails or phone calls.
