I went to this day spa around February of 2008 (before renovations took place) and had a wonderful massage treatment on that occasion. I did not return until after the renovations were complete - this visit was April 12th 2009 - and had an amazing athletic massage which included some stretching as well. I loved this Spa. The atmosphere is very relaxing. First I had a massage that was very refreshing. The therapist asked me how I would like it to be performed and I really enjoyed every minute of it. I had a facial which was also incredible and I could finally find out a specialist's opinion about some issues that had been bothering me for a long time. So me and the wife went to Monterey for the weekend from san jose and I decided to pamper her. She always goes to LaBelle in Palo Alto or Los Gatos spa for her facials. I decided to get her one at this place to suprise her. She was hesitant at first because she always goes to the same ladies, but we got a girl named Vanessa who took great care of her. I recently spent time in Monterey and visited the Spa on the Plaza for the first time. The spa was just lovely! The treatments included soaks in a variety of tubs and the candle-lit ambience and new age music was very calming. The therapists were very skilled and professional, as was the staff. I enjoyed my body scrub, massage and steam treatments. I highly recommend this spa and cannot wait to make another visit to Monterey! For a truly peaceful and relaxing day, you ought to visit the Spa on the Plaza!
A friend of mine suggested I get a massage here, as she said she had the best massage ever from a man named Lawrence. I decided to get one with him and, as my first massage, my expectations were way beyond exceeded! Spa on the Plaza is a stones throw from Fisherman's Wharf. They offered the best packages for the area (I checked!). Very nicely decorated, Zen elegance, clean, peaceful, helpful knowledgeable staff. The package I purchased included an aromatheropy jacuzzi bubble bath, light body brush, mud wrap w/foot massage, rinse and full body massge. I checked all over for a good spa to visit during our stay in the Monterey/Carmel area. After reading reviews and visiting the spas websites, I chose Spa on the Plaza. Boy was I glad I did. The interior is terrific and beautifully appointed. There is a large changing room with lockers (robe and slippers), showers and amenities.
