don t ask them to fix anything whatever you do.... they will put you off. not worth the money. they painted over our mildew spot on the ceiling from leakage. they said it would be a month before we can get a dishwasher that works.. the reason being, that they are allowed only to buy so much a month. this is after we put the request in 2.5 weeks prior. promised to clean carpet when we sign a new lease (yeah right). if they know your cell number they won t answer the phone at the office... but you can see them in the office fr... read more
I have lived in these apartments for 4 1/2 years. When we first moved in it was a great place to call home. For the last year or so the property has gone down TREMENDOUSLY! The management there now are rude and are not helpful at all. We are presently looking for somewhere else to live and I would suggest the same to you if your considering Southwind.
I ve been in living in Southwind Apartments going on 3 years. My experience has been VERY positive. Whenever I have needed repairs from the greatest to small task,they have jumped right on it. The office staff has changed a few times however they have all been very polite to me. The only one time I had an issue was during a ice storm 2 years ago when no ice salt was accessible to clean the stairs...forgot I was not in Chicago. Even with parking issues they stay on it.
They will do anything to keep your deposit and still have not sent me what is left over from my deposit to me. The carpet was a disaster when I moved in and needed replacing. I added a few stains to it and they had the nerve to charge me over 100 dollars for carpet that needed to be tore out in the first place Noise level is horrible here. I was living downstairs and working at night and I swear my upstairs neighbor had a trampoline in their apartment as it was constant banging during the day and even at night. First of all, it was such a hassle to even move in. They kept setting later dates for us to move in, and the management was not concerned about our needs. I had to call and complain everyday that I needed to move in asap, and finally I signed the papers and moved in about two weeks later. The day we moved in, the bug man told us he got a call that we had an ant problem. Well sure enough, the back patio was covered with ants, and he took care of it for the time being. I know that the lower apartments flood everytime it rains. They have to be sandbagged. Not my first choice in a place to live.
Management is HORRIBLE at these apartments. Things do not get fixed on time, they continue to raise rent everytime you sign a new lease, and the apartments have gone down ALOT. The rent they charge is NOT worth it anymore...also if you are one week late on rent, they evict you! HA! I wouldnt waste my time with these apartments at all. My experience has been horrible since original management left :(
