The staff at Kingwood Hospital is excellent! I love the treatment programs, and the team on Unit 500 is all exceptional and seems to really care about their patients. No one wants to be in a mental health facility, and I was no exception, but the entire staff got to know me and my supportive husband for the ten days that I was there voluntarily. I hate to give this 1 star since the experience was hilarious yet so disrespectful, but shout out to the receptionist who told me I was gross for having a high blood pressure, LOL. It was so bad I couldn't get mad but had 2 ask twice "Gross?" Moving right along, lets get to positive Paulina running the back desk who really lets you know how she feels about sick people, and i quote "Tell that guy to shut the F**k up!!" & "Im gonna f**cking lose my mind" LOL WOW! I was at this horrible place in 2016. Please keep your family members out of here. They are abusive and withhold lifesaving medication. They also over medicate and make countless errors dispensing medication. Night staff was especially threatening saying no one would believe me if I told them what happened to me. Unfortunately, when I reported their abuses, they were correct. They didn't write down when they withheld my heart medication for 22 hours. I could have died, but since the nurse didn't write it down, it didn't happ... read more

My son had a very traumatic experience at this place. They scared him into staying longer by threatening him having to do a court appearance to be discharged. The visiting hours policy is horrendous - once a week for 45 minutes. For those struggling with mental health, they need access to their support network. His provider, Lisa McGee, was difficult to work with. Her communication with us was practically non-existent.
