We are going on a year since the company broke ground on our property and more than 15 months since we began the process with Southland Homes. I do have to say that Jodi is excellent! She works in the office in Dawsonsville. However, I am very disappointed with the house building process and our Supervisor, DG. We chose Southland Homes to build our new home after doing some research of the builders in North Georgia. They had the home we thought we could make work for us. We went to the Dawsonville office for a consultation with Jodi. She helped get everything going and was a great help through the entire process. Next we met Tod our building superior who approved the land and started planning what need to be done. Everything started out great with this company -- the selection process was easy. The office staff was friendly and knowledgeable and really stayed on top of things. Then the building process began. The superintendent is nearly impossible to get in touch with .... the building site sits for days and days without any work being done. When you do get in touch with the superintendent and are told work will be done -- always plan for at least 3 days after that date to go by before a contractor shows up. Horrendous company to deal with. They provide terrible customer service. My project would sit for weeks and sometimes up to a month with no work done AT ALL. Project managers would go on long vacations and sometimes just disappear. Complaints would never be acknowledged. I was not the only disgruntled homeowner. Watch out...they also like to try to build your home anywhere on your land EXCEPT where you discussed. Run as far away as you can from this builder that should be out of business.
