When I first started my relationship with the SAVAHCS many years ago, this ER was dismal at best. Long lines, extended wait times, excruciatingly slow and substandard dismissive mediocre care were all too often the accepted norm. While l don't often frequent the ER, over the years things have progressed and have improved greatly. I recently fell and unfortunately broke my leg and utilized the services of the SAVAHCS ER. This was my first time at the VA ER. I went in at 1200. The wait was long (about 5 hours) but that is expected at the ER. There were 3 people who came in after me and had a stroke while at the ER which extended my wait time. If the wait time bothers you take your candy ass somewhere else! I witnessed every staff member do their best for every person in the ER, even for those who complained about the service they were receiving or who already came in with attitudes.
