"Sushi grade"? No way.. – This place was highly recommended by the desk man at a nearby hotel. Having had wonderful sushi the night before in Front Royal, I decided to have it again. I ordered it rare. After a considerable wait in uncrowded restaurant, a fair portion arrived. The presentation was blah; a piece of kale and two lemon wedges. Saul Bejarano Definitely one of the best places in Waynesboro to have a beer and enjoy Waynesboro uphigh class, do not bring your kids unless they know how to behave, this is not the kind of environment for California style kids where there are no rules nor education, if you have a good crew bring it on and they will enjoy the respect of all the rest of the people that deserves a little bit of respect too.. Don't visit the valley without stopping South River is a great place to eat. Very nice dine in Restaurant with a Shenandoah Valley feel with a touch of elegance. If you love horses you have to check out the decor. Gorgeous. They have great food with a upscale taste. With a decent price. Great for an intimate evening or a night with the family.

Great food, terrific service We ate several meals at the South River Grill during a recent stay in Waynesboro. Amidst many chains, this restaurant stands out with creative food (chicken salad on a pineapple wedge, anyone?) and great service. Wait staff was helpful and friendly and food was timely coming out of the kitchen.

Major Problems with Children and Mixed Crowds – I was going to meet my brother and his family at South River for dinner. His children and the children of one of his closest friends had ventured to the restaurant to eat as they had no desire to wait for us. Incidentally, my brother is a highly respected corporate CEO and his friend is a successful professional athlete. Great Find ~ Great Food & Service – Waht a great find. The food was fresh and quality. From the home made soup, to the fresh fish and Angus Beef. The serice was friendly and good. A nice VA. wine list. This restaurant is for person who wants quality food in a relax up scale setting!

Very enjoyable I have enjoyed all of the meals that I have had here. I love the cozy decor, the food is consistently good, and the service is stellar. The prices are a little steep and there is often a wait for dinner since this is the only place in town to get a nice sit down meal.

Only go if you have hours to kill. – The last few times I've been to the South River Grill the service has been terrible. The first time I was there the food was good, but was missing something. The second time I had the tuna and it was way overcooked and the service was bad. I tried again last night and had to wait 30 minutes to get a drink order in and also had to listen to the manager appologizing to the people behind me and the people next to me getting irate a little later because they were still waiting for their drink... read more
