My young daughter had an appointment for a cavity to be filled. Because of her age, they suggested sedation so she would stay still during the appointment. Before the sedation kicked in they put a device in her mouth to keep it open. The device also prevented her from being able to speak; therefore, the person doing the sedation didn't ask her any questions to help her judge if my daughter was sedated or not.
