great night out – Sorriso Trattoria is located in the “Leather District,” formerly considered Chinatown, which has recently gained its own identity as an edgy stepchild of downtown. Sorriso has a relatively nondescript front that opens into a well-appointed interior with a small bar sporting a nice beer selection and a dining area with a warm feel including an exposed pizza oven. The menu is what drew me in -- not your typical American-Italian dishes, but a more legitimate selection of Italian food. It’s the kind of stuff th... read more
She's gone everyone...she's gone – Unique...Karen the bartender has been there as long as I have been going there. She was the reason I came back and brought people with me. I went in for lunch today and was told she would not be returning. After speaking to her she said she was let go. WHYYYYYYYYY????? What a loss for the restaurant. Sorry to say but I will not be returning.
Office party made fun – Our company had an office party there monday night, one of many. We had appetizers and their fabulous pizzas and had the entire front of the restaurant to ourselves. The bartender was also our waitress and she made the night a ton of fun. She was happy, accommodating and fast. Great accent too! I recommend this place to everyone but wanted to give kudos to the great food and to Karen our bartender.
Eat at your own risk -- restaurant did nothing upon notifying them of severe illness resulting from food – Restaurant seemed nice, although was curiously quiet on a weekend evening. Service was okay, waiter came over too much as he didn't have many other tables with patrons. Had horrendous illness from the food that knocked me out for 3 days from an appetizer (only thing I didn't share with the table) . I notified the restaurant and they have yet to respond, evidently they don't care about the health of their customers or th... read more
Great Customer Service – I go to Sorriso practically every friday during lunch and I must say even though it is ridiculously packed, my party and I are always greeted and sitted promptly. Our waitress always makes sure to mention the specials (even though she has an accent she doesnt mind repeating the specials knowing it gets annoying) and have that incredible warm and friendly personality, has an incredible smile and makes sure to come by to check on us. Even though the tables are fairly tiny, I feel like I really get my m... read more
Casual dining – I found this place on City Search when looking for a place to go for dinner with my guy on a Friday night after work. We walked right in & were the first ones there for the dinner crowd - the bar area was hopping! Even though we were the first dinner table for the night, service was prompt, the manager discussed a wine selection with us in detail and made an excellent recommendation. The decor is different for an Italian restaurant - felt like I was on the set of Rick's bar in "Casablanca". But we were very c... read more
Great Pizza, Terrible Service – I regularly go to Sorriso for consistently delicious thin-crust pizza, an interesting italian-focused wine list, and wonderful rustic italian entrees. I have brought multiple friends (with multiple palattes) here and everyone has been impressed. I recommend the warm olives, and spicy green beans, and their $20 something bottle of montelpulciano is one of my favorites. Update 6/4/08: I came here with friends on Monday for their $5 pizza night. Karen, the bartender is usually working Mondays and... read more
casual yet upscale leather dist. hot spot – great pizzas and apps, good entrees, decent wine list, parking can be a pain, consider using the valet
good italian and pizza in the leather district – the best nightlife scene in this barren part of town, decent wine list, pretty bar area
