Unfortunately there is no 0 star option. Now maybe it has improved, but it does not help children, it traumatizes them for life. Look I was not a horrible kid, but I wasn't an angel by any standards. There were some great people there, Mack was a good guy, just an old timer that probably truly wanted to help children. If you are a parent looking for a "school" to send your troubled teen to. I have some great advice. DON'T. Chances are if the child is having trouble at home. It's because there is TROUBLE AT HOME. Time for you to take a good honest look in the mirror. You will find the solution to your childs behavior starring back at you.
While I was there I got all the anger balled up inside and just for all the parents that have the extra staff can pick them up that's going to traumatize don't even more so just keep that in mind
Based on my firsthand experience, Sorenson's Ranch operates not as a therapeutic boarding school, but as an unregulated youth corrections facility. Residents are routinely subjected to extreme violence, psychological torture, and forced labor under the guise of behavioral modification. I'm just glad i got out of there. I spent a year and a half there and I cant say it was horrible. But it could have been worse.
