There is a lot they need to work on here. They should focus on doing every dish or side item the best they can be. Anyone in their right mind can taste their gumbo, fries or other sides and see that the taste is horrible. I bet the employees don't eat that food themselves. Their fried chicken is OK, but nothing to write home about.

Fried Food Fix Smitty's is not for the heart-conscious eater. We're talking fried fish and fried chicken as the main courses and some fairly unhealthy sides like mac n cheese, french fries, etc. That being said, when you're in the mood for fried food Smitty's is a good choice. Whatever it is, it ain't Cajun! I spent the summers of my childhood in New Orleans and grew up eating Cajun food. There are a few places in LA that feature passable and even some very good Cajun, but Smitty's doesn't even come close. I waited until a Friday to try their "gumbo" but was shocked when I got a bowl of the strangest soup I'd ever seen. There was white rice and some broth, ok fine.
