Absolutely awesome experience! Aqua did an amazing job in service AND recommending food when we couldn’t make up our minds. Very friendly atmosphere and staff.
Ok… so to be clear, today’s Sonny’s is not the greatest BBQ place ever. There’s a lot of joints that are better. BUT… I grew up with it in Florida, met the one and only Sonny, and have eaten at the original location in Gainesville on Waldo Rd. So for nostalgic purposes, it was excellent. It’s changed a lot over the years, especially as it has franchised and expanded, but I love it and it tastes good. And every time I need a nostalgic fix of home, I can just drive up from Nashville and enjoy some good ole Sonny’s BBQ.
Went on a Saturday night around 730-8 wasn't overly busy, no wait time. Pretty quiet easy to have a conversation with the meal. Food was quick to come. I ordered the shredded or chopped chicken- in seemed to be soaked in water to keep moisture (no real flavor), the ribs was good and decent size. The jalapeño sausage was the better meat out of all that was on the table (not a sausage fan normally). Bake beans was best side dish.
We love eating at Sonny's! The food is fabulous! Service with a smile. We eat here often when in Bowling Green.
