This is a good hotel with spacious rooms, kitchenette and free W/D for guests. The staff was very helpful and friendly but I will say that the check-in is exactly at 4 pm, so if you’re looking for earlier, you may have to special request it beforehand. Nevertheless, they allowed me to hang in the large lobby/ dining area with my lunch before the rooms were ready. The rooms are clean except for some minor dusty lamps and the alarm clock. Black mold under the sinks in our room, not noticed until morning of checkout. I am an extremely healthy non-smoker, and still developed a deep lung issue which required hospital treatment and prescription medication. 2 weeks later still battling the condition this caused. I reached out to the plantation office and corporate with my concerns, and not one response or reply. We have been coming here for years, not again.
After our flight back to Phoenix was cancelled in Miami at 11:00 PM, we were stranded and exhausted. After searching everywhere, we found this absolute gem in Fort Lauderdale. We checked in at 2:30 AM and were met with a welcoming smile from Martavis. Despite the late hour, he provided the exact warmth, humor, and compassion we needed after a long day. Due to an issue with my trip, United gave me a lodging voucher and this Sonesta was the only option available. Upon my arrival I saw 2 guests complaining at the front guest about issues with their reservations. I don't know what happened but I witness this lady KRYSTA being sarcastic towards both guests.
